Century Park Hotel

Me and family had a 3 days and 2 nights staycation at a hotel just within the city. Choices of hotel were plenty but we chose on Century Park Hotel.  As to how and why we chose Century Park was all about the amenities and ambiance of the hotel itself. Another thing is the value for money. We think that Century is a good classy hotel that will not torn our budget apart.

The hotel room is surprisingly big at 37 square meter for the superior room. We chose 2 full bed since we  are a family of 4. The room is not carpeted which to me is good. My kids preferred carpet but I preferred wood flooring. It has one big comfy chair with arm rest and another one without. It has a coffee table and another movable working table aside from the table under the TV which holds some cabinets. The tables are all in dark brown finish which make sit more classy.

One thing I noticed with this hotel is that there are a lot of electrical outlets. For some hotels, they have ipad docks but here additional with the outlet are USB outlets where you can plug your USB cable charger without using the adapter plug and they are conveniently located in the head board of the bed and one at the wall near the table. On the headboard also you can find the main control for all the appliance in the room.  Without going out of bed you can control the lights, TV, music and AC.

Rooms are sound proofed which is good. The bathroom is big with bath tub/shower area. They have coffee/tea making facilities, a personal refrigerator and a blow dryer situated at the bathroom.

They have two pools, one is for lapping and another one where the kids can enjoy swimming. Though the minimum pool depth is 4 feet which for me is quite deep for kids, I think it is still enjoyable. They have a jacuzzi which contains heated water. All the pool has a temperature controlled water which is good. The big pool according to the lifeguard will be scheduled for renovation after summer.

They also accept walk in in their pool area. Meaning you have to pay to use the facility and you do not need to check in as a guest.  The fee for adult is Php450.00 and for kids is 250.00.

Their food actually is worth the value of money. It has a big serving portion.

A Breathtaking Isla Pandan in Palawan

First stop for island hopping trip in Palawan, Philippines last summer was here at Isla Pandan.  It was one of the place which the tourist will visit when they go into island hopping tour.  This means that tourists who are to be on island hopping for the day will probably meet here.

But what is funny is that despite the fact that many people are during the time of our island hopping the island did not become crowded at all. Not at all unlike in some other beaches. Before we arrive here we board a local motorized boat, and even before we set foot on this beautiful island, a lot of boats has already been parked in the shoreline.  Meaning there are many people already.  Yes, there are bunch of people here and there but you will not definitely feel that the place is crowded.

We got a hut on a farther side of the beach and as you can see the view, it is breathtaking.  How I wish we could stay here the whole day just to hang around but unfortunately we still have to visit 2 more island. My son at first was hesitant to ride a boat (first time) but when he saw this place and that we are going to stay here for a while, boy, he never wants to leave the island.

The sand are fine and white.  There were a lot of fish, you can actually feed the fish.  You can buy bread to feed them and the boatmen will help find the fish for you to feed.  There were areas that were deep and you need to have a vest which can be rented in a store we passed by going there.

Kidzoona: A Place Called Heaven For Kids

We used to be in different indoor play areas for my children but this one is different from all of them. Almost all of the other indoor play areas we have to usually allows children to be physically active.  Most if not all the activities there entails them to exert effort physically such as slides, carousel wherein they have to hold themselves in the swing while other children push them so the carousel can go around. play area with lots of balls and more.

But this one play area is somehow different from all.  This not only allow the child to be physically active but also be imaginative and creative.  Other than the play area with slide and tons of balls, on the wall there, there is a  small portion where the children can wall climb.

On the other areas, the children can play pretend.  They can be a burger maker, ice cream maker, sushi maker, grocery personnel and also a customer.  They have uniforms for children who wants to play crew.

They can experiment on what kind of burger do they want to do or what the customers want.  They can make ice cream on cone and on cups as well.  They also have fire station where the children can actually be the fireman and wear the uniform and ride the makeshift firetruck with the siren and all.

What is also nice here is that they have areas where the child can play build your own train truck and also some doll houses.  These are activities needed for kids nowadays.  And I do really appreciate these types of activities mainly because those toys they are using I saw also in therapy center where my child used to go and was used for stimulating the minds of the children with disability.

That being said, I think this indoor play activity center is a one stop shop not only to entertain the child but also to stimulate learning and interaction through play.  This what matters most.

Kidzoona is located at the 5th floor of Waltermart Makati in front of Don Bosco.  Accoring to some staff, the management are trying to build some more in other malls.

Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Shampoo

Yesterday, someone from our neighborhood gave me samples of Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Shampoo and Conditioner.  It is a new product I guess because I have not seen in the market yet when I do our grocery. Today, I was able to try it for myself.  I have not tried Dove shampoo for quite a while now so it is a joyful welcome to use a new shampoo.  I usually use 2-3 different shampoo every 3 to 4 weeks depending on the needs of my hair.

I was taken aback because when I open the sachet and put the shampoo on my palm, I realized that the shampoo is clear. For a long time I have not used clear shampoo, mostly they are translucent.
The smell is nice and too much for the liking.  Not too sweet and not too citrusy.  And even the conditioner smells really good.

My hair is straight but it is not straight straight as the other women have which are shiny straight. My hair  has a mixture of natural wavy and straight though I am more blessed that it is on the side of straight.  And I am the type who just take a bath and that it for the hair.  I am not very much particular with my hair.  I do not blower it up, sometimes I fan dry it but most of the time my hair is natural air dry.  And I am not used to combing my hair after shampooing it. I just let it dry as it is just combing it with my fingers.

So this Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Shampoo and Conditioner is a big welcome to my hair for sure though it is not super dry, just a little because of the hair coloring. I noticed that my hair after use is not so tangled (finger brush only).  It is easier to comb with my fingers. And when it dries up naturally, I can see the shine on my hair and it does not limp.  I noticed a few days ago that my hair limps already that is why a change of shampoo is much welcome.  My hair has more volume now than before. That's a wow!

As I read the package after I use the shampoo and conditioner, it is said that the shampoo and conditioner contains has "oxyfusion technology that contains nourishing ingredients fused with oxygen, gently cleansing and moisturizing while adding volume to hair."

So all in all, thumbs up for New Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Shampoo and Conditioner!  A great product for Filipina women.

Is Love Enough For Marriage To Work?

Love. Love. Love.

The four letter word every wants to hear, to have and to get a hold on.  As Mahatma Gandhi said "when there is love there is life."  Well, it is true that to live a full life you should have love.  But before you give love to others you should love yourself first.  Loving yourself means accepting yourself, your strength and weaknesses. Only then you can give love fully.

When you love, you should love without expecting anything in return.  We cannot expect all those people we love will love us back the same way we love them.  It is much easier said than done.  If you can do that then we can say that it is an ultimate love.  You can sacrifice your love for that person.

In marriage, it is important that you love the person you will marry.  But other than love, partners should be able to establish friendship and trust.  These are important factors to make a marriage work.  If you are friends, you can communicate to that person well because when you are friends you have nothing to hide and you share even the small details to your friend.  Open communication is always important in friendship.  If you are friends, trust will  be established.

Love, friendship, open communication and trust makes a marriage healthy.  It can last a lifetime with the said elements.  If trust is broken, then there will be problems also with communication, the relationship will gradually be destroyed.

School Fund Raising

Just recently when the school started last June 2015, the school of my daughter organize an election for classroom officers of parents and an overall Parents-Teachers Officers for the whole school.  In my absence, I was still elected as the classroom president but of course due to my absence I was not elected in the overall officers which of course is just good for me.

Being a part of the officers entails a heavy responsibility.  Like right now, the school asked the officers to help raise funds to purchase the fiber optic basketball ring and board.  It was once included in the budget of the gym construction but due to some unfortunate incidences on the part of the constructor, they cannot provide anymore for that.  So the school now have to shoulder that expenses.

Fund raising eh? So what to do now.  The officers came up with a contest that will have ticket selling as a means of fund raising.  The school will now have a Parent-Kid Look-A-Like contest that will run for a month and will have three (3) counting periods. I am really praying that we will be able to raise money from this.

Last year, we made 140,000 in Philippine peso for newspaper drive.  The fund was allotted to buy plastic playground and sports equipment for the grade school department.

This time the fundraising is from kinder to high school students.  My hopes are very high for this.  I hope that the parents will cooperate. I am thinking of what other fund raising can we do in order to get more funds for the school?

How about selling food? Will it sell good?

Gadget Effect To Our Children

We are lucky nowadays to have such an upgraded technology.  Gone were the days that we use telegraph machine to message our family or friends who are away from home and abroad.  Gone were the days that you will await the monthly snail mail of your loved ones, or for you to be able to talk to them you have to go to the telephone booth or telephone company office to make a long distance call.

Today, there are only few children you can see holding robots and swords or cars and toy guns. Most of the children are playing gadgets. Gadgets is everywhere, either the children are playing smartphone, tablets, iphone or ipads or any one of those mention.

And since this is a good way to keep them in one place, parents see gadgets as a helpful tool especially those who are really busy with work.  That is so very true, gadgets are helpful tool for parents to keep their children busy.  But it also has its unpleasant effects on the children.

When the children are exposed to gadgets at a young age, the tendency is that they may have delays in some areas of development.  Some accounts are noted that children exposed to gadgets at an early age, they become addicted with the gadgets and have the tendency to have impulsive and unmanageable behavior when the gadgets are taken away from them.

Due to long exposure to gadgets, the children talk and interact less with people that makes them unsociable at times or some develop delays in their speech. Another fact that happens, due to long exposure to gadgets in  sitting or lying down position, the child develops overweight and sometimes obesity.  This is due to the fact that they do not play anymore the physical activities or games we used to do during our childhood days.

Gone were the days that they go to playground to play, or to play on the streets with their peers. Children of young age develop many diseases or disorder as a result of this.

Gadgets are really helpful, it is makes life more easy but we should also consider the effect of this on our children.  If it cannot be avoided, you should have some house rule on using the gadgets such time limit of days of usage.  In this way, they know that it is not always available for their consumption and a discipline is rooted to them somehow.  Or it can be a reward for them for doing a good job in school in a weekly basis.  Who knows, by making this a reward for them, it will turn out positively that they will really strive hard in school and it will all be a win-win situation for us.
